Hiram Revels was born on September 22, 1827 in Fayetteville, North Carolina. He was born as a free man as an African American and Indian. Revels was a student at Quaker School in Liberty, Indiana at the year 1844. Hiram attended school in Ohio and was a student in Knox College. Later on he moved to St. Louis to organize a African American School. Revels joined in the army to free all blacks. With the Civil War in the year 1861 he turned his resources to support the Union. Revels got so tired of traveling so many places like Ohio, Missiouri, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, Kanasa, and Illionis. He setteled in Natchez Mississippi then he joined African American Methodist Episcopal Church.
